Get a spool of thread or ribbon and ask each guest to cut off as much ribbon as they think is required to go around the belly of the mother to be. Some of the guests cut off ribbon that could go around the mother to be twice! Of course the mother to be may be offended if she is sensitive about her weight so tread carefully. The person closest to the actual girth wins.

As a variation you can use toilet paper and have the guests pull off how many sheets around they think mommy’s belly is.

Making The Cards

Draw baby related items like diaper pins, bottles, rattles, bibs, teats, blocks and cradles on 3×5 cards or colored card stock with a dark pen or marker. Make three matching items on as many scratch cards as you want winners, the rest of the cards should have 3 unmatched symbols. Using a silver wax crayon color over the drawings in a thick coating. You should be able to use a coin or fingernail to scratch the crayon color away to reveal the prize symbols below. Make sure to do a test copy before creating them all.

When the guests arrive hand each one a scratch card and ask them to hold them until everyone arrives. Give each guest a coin (a diaper pin works, too!) and ask her to scratch the silver off. The guest who gets the three matching items wins!

Draw a large baby boy on a paper and tape it to the wall. Tell everyone that the object of the game is to pin the diaper on the baby boy blindfolded. Everyone thinks this is a spin off on the ‘Pin the tale on the donkey’ game. However, this time round get the mother to be to go first. As soon as she is blindfolded, whip out a bunch of water guns and spray her with water. She’ll be shrieking for mercy before you know it but tell her with baby boys you have to be careful else you get sprayed!

This game can be played individually, if you have a small group, or for a large party, divide your guests into 4-5 teams.

You will want to get enough medium sized diaper bags or canvas carry-all bags as you have players. Give each team or player a baby bag and tons of baby stuff like diapers, baby wipes, bibs, clothes, bottles, formula, hot water thermos, pacifiers and toys. More items that could possibly fit in the bag easily. Make sure each team or player has the same amount of items so it is fair.

The aim of the game is to pack all the baby stuff into the bag as quickly as possible without them falling out. Of course you must ensure that all the stuff will go in only if the bag is packed with extreme patience and frugality of space as only a seasoned mother can do. You will be surprised how badly some people pack a bag, and even more surprised at how well some others can.

This is a great game for a coed baby shower as you can pair up the couples in teams and see how “mommy” and “daddy” work together.

Bottles Up! Baby Bottles Game Kit

This hilarious and original baby shower drinking game is an entertaining and lighthearted shower game your guests will love. Do you know what mommy will be packing to bring to the hospital? You might be surprised at her answers… and your guests! While many might guess she is bringing a robe or slippers, did anyone guess she was bringing her scrap-booking kit to get a headstart on her “baby’s first day” page? What about the player who thinks she will be bringing her dog? This is one easy game that will bring a lot of laughs… and explanations when mommy tells why she needs to bring her bikini waxing kit!!

Directions

Print out one sheet for each player (Mom-to-be, too) and pass them out with a pen or pencil. Have each guest write up to 22 things they think mommy will be packing for her trip to the hospital when her big day arrives. Anything can be a guess, but the only right answers are the ones that match mommy’s.

When everyone is finished, have the mother-to-be read her answers out loud to the group, letting each guest self-check their own answers. Make sure you have mommy explain the more “interesting” items she will be bringing for a few laughs. The player with the most matched answers to mommy wins.

For added fun you can also have your guests read the ones they got wrong, with an explanation for the more humorous items. You will be floored at some of the items your guests will list… and “No, she will not be bringing her 1970′s greatest hits album collection to the labor room!”

Directions

You will need lots of disposable diapers for this game, but if make sure your guests aren’t too crazy with them while playing the mommy-to-be can use them after the shower (she’ll need tons soon so she will appreciate it).

Give each player a large amount of diapers and a table to work on. Set a timer for 3 minutes and have your guests stack the diapers as high as they can in the time allowed without the stack falling over. If their tower of diapers falls and they have enough time they can keep trying to stack. The tallest diaper tower standing at the end of the time wins. We’ve measured tallest in the number of diapers stacked so there is no need for a ruler, but it can also be tallest measured with a measuring tape (which could get funny as people try to stack the diapers sideways for more height!).

Tip: For large groups you can have your guests play in teams, or in turns, this will cut down on the diapers you need to buy. Have 5 or 6 people playing at a time, while others cheer them on. Then just write down the highest stacking diapers each turn and the tallest diaper tower after everyone has gone is the winner.

It’s really a simple game idea with a lot of options to get creative. You could add to the rules that each player must top their stack with a bottle, or a binkie, or have players stack other multiple objects in as a requirement (such as: 1 rattle, 1 bib, and 1 pair of baby socks). Any way you play you will have tons of laughs watching these “Tower of Babbles” being built… and more fun watching them fall down!
